Fitch revises Aetna view to positive

Fitch Ratings said it revised Aetna Inc.’s outlook to positive from stable and affirmed its BBB+ issuer and BBB senior notes’ ratings.

“The revision of the rating outlook on Aetna's ratings reflects improvement in Fitch's view of the credit profile of the company's ultimate parent, CVS Health Corp., driven primarily by the ongoing reduction of consolidated financial leverage and progress in successfully integrating Aetna's operations. In its evaluation of Aetna's credit profile, Fitch primarily uses GAAP-based operating performance figures reported for CVS' health care benefits segment, which is comprised almost entirely of Aetna's legacy operations,” the agency said in a press release.
