S&P cuts SunOpta

S&P said it downgraded SunOpta Inc. to CCC from CCC+.

S&P also lowered the issue-level rating on the company's senior secured second-lien notes to CCC- from CCC, based on a 5 recovery rating.

“The downgrade reflects weak operating performance due to crop shortages in SunOpta’s key strawberry sourcing regions,” said the agency in a news release.

The outlook is negative.
