By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, June 26 – rue21, Inc. plans to close 18 additional stores, according to a notice filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

The additional stores being closed are in Wisconsin, Ohio, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Colorado, Maryland, Alabama, Missouri, North Carolina, California, Nevada, Arkansas, Iowa, Georgia and Montana.

Objections to the closing of any of the additional stores are due within seven days of the service of the notice.

As previously reported, rue21 announced that it began closing 400 underperforming stores out of its 1,179 total in April and said further stores may be shuttered.

rue21 is a Warrendale, Pa., specialty retailer focused on teens that filed for bankruptcy on May 15 under Chapter 11 case number 17-22045.
