Pittsburgh Corning must file plan by Aug. 20 or defend Chapter 11 case

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, July 18 - Pittsburgh Corning Corp. has been ordered to file an amended plan of reorganization by Aug. 20 or show cause why its Chapter 11 case should not be converted or dismissed at an Oct. 10 hearing, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

If the company does file an amended plan by the Aug. 20 deadline, objections to that plan will be due by Sept. 19.

Between Sept. 19 and Sept. 26, all plan proponents and supporters must meet with plan objectors to attempt to resolve all objections, and a stipulation must be filed by Sept. 28 identifying each resolved objection and any related plan amendments.

The Oct. 10 hearing will be a status conference to determine whether an evidentiary hearing is needed if a plan is filed by the deadline. Any objections would also be heard at the Oct. 10 hearing.

Pittsburgh-based Pittsburgh Corning is a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, specialty materials, glass and fiberglass. Pittsburgh Corning filed for bankruptcy on April 16, 2000. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-22876.
