Pinnacle Airlines: Pilots group ratifies tentative contract agreement

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Jan. 15 - Pinnacle Airlines Corp. wholly owned subsidiary Pinnacle Airlines, Inc. said its pilots group, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), ratified a tentative collective bargaining agreement reached in December.

According to a company news release, the changes in the ratified agreement, which covers pilot pay, retirement, work rules and benefits, will take effect when concessions are implemented for the airline's other labor groups and non-union employees.

"We have now reached agreements with all of our unions following the previously announced agreements with the Association of Flight Attendants and the Transport Workers Union," Pinnacle president and chief executive officer John Spanjers said in the release.

"This is a significant milestone in our restructuring and represents substantial progress that we expect will allow us to successfully emerge from bankruptcy."

A hearing will be held on Jan. 16 for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to consider approval of the tentative agreement with ALPA and the other agreements that Pinnacle expects to facilitate its emergence from bankruptcy.

Pinnacle, a Memphis-based operator of a regional airline, filed for bankruptcy on April 1, 2012. Its Chapter 11 case number is 12-11343.
