Markit announces launch of Markit iBoxx Contingent Convertible indexes

By Toni Weeks

San Luis Obispo, Calif., Nov. 17 – Markit Group Ltd. said it has launched Markit iBoxx Contingent Convertible indexes, a family of indexes designed to provide a broad representation of the developed and emerging market bank contingent convertible issuance in pounds sterling, euros and dollars.

According to a news release, the indexes track the performance and emergent issuance of bank additional tier 1 and tier 2 contingent convertible instruments that are Basel III compliant from Jan. 1, 2013 onwards.

The subindexes for additional tier 1 and tier 2 capital allow for detailed multidimensional analysis of the underlying bank contingent convertible market for “sophisticated performance measurement and comparison,” the release said.
