By Susanna Moon

Chicago, July 16 – International Finance Corp. said it has issued £350 million of 1.25% green bonds due 2023 at 99.782 for a reoffer yield of 1.292%.

Proceeds will be used to finance IFC investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency and other areas that reduce greenhouse emissions globally.

The issue was the company’s first sterling green bonds, “attracting strong investor demand,” according to a company announcement.

The issue “marks IFC’s first sterling-denominated benchmark in five years and is the first green bond to be issued by a multi-lateral development bank in the sterling market since 2015,” the release said.

“The transaction highlights the growing appetite for socially responsible investment in the United Kingdom, with U.K.-based investors accounting for 52% of the final book,” the release added.
