Moody's: Intel unchanged

Moody's Investors Service did not change Intel Corp.'s A1 rating or stable outlook following the announcement that Intel and the Federal Trade Commission reached a settlement resolving allegations brought in December 2009 by the FTC that Intel illegally maintained its dominant position in the microprocessor market and tried to control the graphics market using anti-competitive practices that harmed consumers.

Subject to a 30-day public comment period before it becomes final, "the settlement agreement is credit positive for Intel since the agreement is consistent with the separate settlement agreement that Intel reached with Advanced Micro Devices last November, and it removes a significant piece of litigation without requiring a cash payment by Intel," Moody's senior vice president Richard Lane said in an agency statement.
