Deb Stores eyes another four months exclusivity to continue wind down

By Kali Hays

New York, July 15 – Deb Stores Holding, LLC asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to allow a second extension of the company’s exclusive plan filing and solicitation periods, according to a Wednesday motion.

The company asked that its filing period be extended to Dec. 1 from Aug. 3 and its solicitation period to Jan. 28, 2015 from Sept. 30.

Though Deb Stores said that it has made “significant progress” in its bankruptcy case and has closed some asset sales, the company needs more time in order to “maximize the value of the estates,” according to the motion.

A hearing to consider the extension is set for Aug. 25.

Deb Stores is the parent company of Deb Shops, Inc., a Philadelphia-based retailer that specializes in junior and plus-sized merchandise for women aged 13 to 25. Deb Stores filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 4. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-12676.
