Dewey & LeBoeuf adds bankruptcy and reorganization team led by Bennett

Cleveland, Feb. 7 - Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP said that it hired bankruptcy and reorganization lawyer Bruce Bennett; partners James Johnston, Sidney Levinson, Bennett Murphy and Joshua Mester; counsel Monika Weiner and three associates to its Los Angeles office and counsel Joshua Morse to its San Francisco office.

All members of the bankruptcy and reorganization team were previously with Hennigan, Bennett and Dorman LLP. Bennett was a founding partner of the firm and head of its business reorganization and restructuring department.

"Bruce is one of the premier restructuring attorneys in the country, with unparalleled experience in Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations and Chapter 9 municipal reorganizations," Dewey & LeBoeuf chairman Steven H. Davis said in a news release.

"Their (Bennett and his team) interdisciplinary restructuring experience further cements our reputation as a go-to firm for complex matters in this area and provides exciting opportunities for growth," he added.

Bennett was involved in many large U.S. corporate reorganization cases in retail, telecommunications, heavy industry, aviation, manufacturing, real estate, insurance, energy, banking and computer technology, according to the release.

"The breadth of expertise it (Dewey & LeBoeuf) provides in such areas as corporate and tax have become an important factor in creditor and debtor representations and will greatly enhance the value we offer clients," Bennett said in the release.
