Collins & Aikman posts $31.53 million August operating loss

Pittsburgh, Sept. 22 - Collins & Aikman Corp. reported a $31.53 million operating loss for August on sales of $117.62 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The figures show improvement from a $39.19 million July operating loss on $78.01 million in sales.

The net loss for August was $38.54 million, improved from a $44.04 million July net loss.

Cash on Aug. 26 was $49.41 million, compared with $59.45 million the month before.

Collins & Aikman, a Troy, Mich.-based automotive company, filed for Chapter 11 on May 17, 2005 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The case number is 05-55927.
