S&P rates Berkshire Hathaway Energy notes A-

S&P said it assigned its A- issue-level rating to $1 billion 4.45% senior notes due Jan. 15, 2049 issued by Berkshire Hathaway Energy Co.

The company expects to use the proceeds to redeem short-term borrowings and for general corporate purposes.

“We rate BHE's senior unsecured debt, including this issue, one notch below the issuer credit rating because it ranks behind a significant amount of secured debt and debt issued by subsidiaries in the capital structure,” S&P said in a news release.

The issuer credit rating on Berkshire Hathaway Energy is A, and the outlook is stable.
