AMR, committee add two weeks onto exclusivity extension motion

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 1 - AMR Corp. and its official committee of unsecured creditors have tacked on an extra two weeks to their joint motion for extension of the AMR debtors' exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Under the original motion filed last month, the company and committee asked the court to extend the exclusive filing period to April 1 from March 11 and the solicitation period to May 31 from May 10.

In Thursday's amended motion, the proposed plan filing deadline would be April 15, and the solicitation deadline would be June 17.

AMR and the creditors committee cited the size and complexity of the debtors' cases. Also, they said the extension would allow the debtors to focus on preserving going-concern values, restructuring financial conditions and operations, and resolving labor issues.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 14.

AMR, the Fort Worth-based parent of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 29, 2011. Its Chapter 11 case number is 11-15463.
