L'Occitane gets exclusivity extension to continue lease negotiations

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., May 25 – L'Occitane, Inc. secured an extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

Specifically, the court extended the plan filing period through Aug. 24 and the solicitation period through Oct. 23.

The company said in its motion that additional time is needed so that it can complete lease negotiations and to construct a plan of reorganization and discuss the plan with the official committee of unsecured creditors.

“Given the winding down state of lease negotiations, it is believed that these extensions will provide the debtor with ample time to conclude lease negotiations and formulate and file a plan,” the company said.

L'Occitane is a New York-based retail chain that sells and promotes beauty and well-being products. The company filed bankruptcy on Jan. 26 under Chapter 11 case number 21-10632.
