Moody’s assigns Upjohn, Viatris Baa3

Moody’s Investors Service said it assigned first-time Baa3 long-term issuer ratings to Upjohn Inc. and Upjohn Finance BV, the mature branded business of Pfizer Inc. that will be combining with Mylan NV. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2020.

“Upjohn’s Baa3 rating (which reflects the combination with Mylan to form Viatris) reflects the company’s considerable scale and strong global position in mature branded and generic pharmaceuticals,” Moody’s said in a press release.

Upjohn will be renamed Viatris, once the transaction closes.

The outlook is stable.
