Diocese of Buffalo allowed to opt-in to Boy Scouts case

Chicago, Nov. 9 – The Diocese of Buffalo gained authorization to opt in as a participating charted organization in the amended plan filed in the Boy Scouts of America Chapter 11 case, according to an order filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York.

The diocese is allowed to assign rights under certain insurance policies to the Boy Scout settlement trust.

Separately worth noting, the Diocese of Rockville is seeking similar authorization. A hearing has been adjourned on this matter until Dec. 2.

The diocese filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Feb. 28, 2020 under case number 20-10322.
