Diamond Sports Group seeks second extension of exclusive periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Oct. 2 – Diamond Sports Group, LLC is seeking another extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

The company asked the court to extend the exclusive plan filing period through Nov. 29 and the exclusive solicitation period through Jan. 29.

The court recently approved the appointment of judges David Jones and Marvin Isgur as mediators to assist the debtors in resolving the complex and interrelated issues presented by the Chapter 11 cases.

No final agreements have been reached to date, the company said.

“Once the debtors have an agreement on a path forward, the debtors will move quickly to file and prosecute their Chapter 11 plan,” Diamond Sports said in the motion.

Diamond Sports Group is an independently managed and unconsolidated subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group. Diamond owns the Bally Sports Regional Sports networks, a provider of local sports. The Baltimore-based company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 14, 2023 under case number 23-90116.
