Dowling College secures extension to review claims, negotiate plan

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, July 11 – Dowling College obtained a second extension of its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Specifically, the college’s exclusive filing period was extended by 90 days through Oct. 25 from July 27 and the solicitation period through Dec. 26 from Sept. 27.

“The debtor seeks a further 90-day extension of these exclusive periods in order to afford an ample opportunity for the filing and reviewing of claims against the debtor and to negotiate the terms of a confirmable Chapter 11 plan with the official committee of unsecured creditors and lender parties,” the motion said.

Dowling is based in Oakdale, N.Y. The college filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 29, 2016 under Chapter 11 case number 16-75545.
