Buffalo, N.Y., June 27 – Credicorp Ltd. announced that Banco de Credito del Peru (BCP) issued its first international green bond under its new sustainability financing framework, according to a press release on Monday.
The entire issuance was acquired by France’s Amundi through its Amundi Planet – Emerging Green One Fund.
“We are proud to be the first Peruvian bank to capture international funds to finance green projects. We are convinced that the financing system can propitiate the transition to business models and activities that are more eco-friendly. This issuance constitutes, without a doubt, a milestone in this direction,” said Diego Cavero, chief executive officer of BCP.
Proceeds from the issue will initially be used to finance projects to develop eco-friendly production plants.
The banking group is based in Lima.
