S&P boosts Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León outlook to positive

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed its mxA national-scale rating on Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and revised its outlook on the rating to positive from stable.

The outlook revision reflects the company's improved debt profile and decreased level of debt service.

Indeed, the refinancing achieved at year-end 2005 significantly improved its debt service compared to previous years, the agency noted, adding that the rating is supported by the university's presence in the prosperous metropolitan area of the city of Monterrey (mxA+/positive, all ratings herein are national-scale ratings, unless noted otherwise), State of Nuevo León (mxA-/Watch positive), stable levels of federal and state support as well as solid student demand for the university's programs and a strong feeder system from the university's high school.
