Gamco-led investors up stake in UAP Holding to 6.54%

Charlotte, N.C., March 4 - Investors led by Gamco Asset Management Inc. and Gabelli Funds, LLC increased their ownership interest in UAP Holding Corp. to 6.54% from an initial stake of 5.47%.

The investors purchased 561,613 additional shares of UAP Holding between Jan. 10 and Feb. 29 priced from $38.09 to $38.78 each, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Gamco and Gabelli beneficially own 3,432,543 shares of the company's outstanding stock.

On Dec. 3, Agrium, Inc. announced an agreement to acquire UAP Holding for $39.00 per share, or $2.65 billion including debt. Agrium extended its tender offer for UAP Holding to midnight ET on March 14 from midnight ET on Feb. 26.

UAP Holding, located in Greeley, Colo., is the holding company of UAP Inc., an independent distributor of agricultural and non-crop products in the United States and Canada.
