Sun-Times Media CEO says goodbye

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 5 - Sun-Times Media Group, Inc. president and chief executive officer Cyrus Freidheim announced his resignation effective Feb. 28. The company has yet to name his successor.

In announcing his departure to Sun-Times employees, Freidheim said, "It is time to move on."

According to a Sun-Times news release, Freidheim joined the board of the Chicago newspaper company in October 2005 and became CEO in November 2006.

Freidheim and all but one of the previous members of the company's board of directors were recently replaced following Davidson Kempner Capital Management LLC's successful consent solicitation.

As previously reported, the Sun-Times board is now comprised of Davidson Kempner nominees Jeremy L. Halbreich, Robert A. Schmitz and Michael E. Katzenstein as well as remaining board member Robert A. Poile and recently appointed director Graham W. Savage.
