Quercus buys more shares of Spire

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 5 - Quercus Trust increased its ownership interest in Spire Corp. to 11.1% with the purchase of an additional 98,135 shares of the company's stock.

The shares were acquired between Dec. 13 and Feb. 1, priced from $17.64 to $22.38 per share.

The investors beneficially own 921,196 shares of Spires' outstanding stock, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Quercus reported a 5.1% stake in the company in September.

Spire is a Bedford, Mass., technology company.
