Invitrogen, Solexa to supply reagents for sequencing technology

By Elaine Rigoli

Tampa, Fla., June 13 - Invitrogen Corp. and Solexa, Inc. announced a collaboration through which Invitrogen will supply many of the reagents for Solexa's sequencing, gene expression and small RNA analysis kits designed to be used with the Solexa genome analysis system.

Financial terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.

Solexa said that, with the potential to generate over a billion bases of DNA sequence data per run, the genome analysis system could reduce the cost and improve the speed of a broad range of applications, including whole genome human sequencing and expression profiling.

Invitrogen, located in Carlsbad, Calif., provides life-science technologies for disease research.

Solexa, located in Hayward, Calif., provides genetic analysis systems.
