Smith & Nephew launches enhanced Allevyn adhesive dressings in Europe

By E. Janene Geiss

Philadelphia, May 17 - Smith & Nephew's Advanced Wound Management division announced Wednesday that it is launching new and improved versions of Allevyn adhesive and Allevyn sacrum that now have up to three times increased fluid handling capacity.

The new dressings now have a more breathable top film and a faster rate of fluid uptake, according to a company news release.

This combined with the existing benefits of Allevyn helps to deliver the optimal moist wound environment for the promotion of faster healing, officials said.

Allevyn helps to facilitate healing by reducing the risk of maceration and maintaining an optimal moist wound environment. Allevyn offers the clinician a clinically proven range of dressings that are cost effective both for the clinician and the buyer, officials said.

Smith & Nephew Advanced Wound Management division is based in Hull, England.

Smith & Nephew is a London-based medical technology company.
