Delta names team that will lead transition following merger with Northwest

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., July 15 - Delta Air Lines Inc. announced the corporate leadership team that will transition Northwest Airlines Corp.'s operations into Delta over the 12 to 24 months following the companies' merger.

Richard Anderson, Delta chief executive officer, will lead the team, which also includes:

• Ed Bastian, president and chief financial officer, Delta Air Lines; CEO and president, Northwest;

• Mike Becker, executive vice president, chief operating officer, Northwest;

• Mike Campbell, executive vice president, human resources and communications;

• Steve Gorman, executive vice president, operations;

• Glen Hauenstein, executive vice president, revenue and network;

• Ben Hirst, senior vice president, general counsel;

• Laura Liu, senior vice president, international; and

• Theresa Wise, senior vice president, chief information officer.

Northwest's current president and CEO, Doug Steenland, will sit on the new Delta board of directors.

The new Delta will be based in Atlanta while maintaining "a significant long-term presence" in Minnesota beyond the transition period.

In April, Atlanta-based Delta and Northwest, located in Eagan, Minn., announced plans to merge in an all-stock transaction with a combined enterprise value of $17.7 billion.
