Micro Focus could close deal with Borland next week with approval

Charlotte, N.C., July 22 - Borland Software Corp. shareholders voted to approve the company's merger with Micro Focus International plc at a special meeting on Wednesday.

Holders of approximately 65% of the shares of Borland common stock outstanding as of the record date for the meeting voted to adopt the merger agreement, a Borland news release said.

Of the shares voted, approximately 99% were voted in favor of the merger proposal.

Micro Focus shareholders will vote on the merger at a special meeting on Friday.

The merger is expected to be completed early next week, according to Borland.

As previously reported, Micro Focus recently increased its offer to acquire Borland to $1.50 per share from $1.15.

Micro Focus is a Newbury, England-based software company.

Borland, based in Austin, Texas, is a vendor of open application lifecycle management solutions.
