Massachusetts Investors Growth Stock Fund plans late March launch

San Diego, Jan. 26 - Massachusetts Financial Services Co. announced plans to offer a new fund, the Massachusetts Investors Growth Stock Fund.
According to an N-1A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the public offering is scheduled for March 29.
The fund will launch with 11 share classes. Along with their ticker symbols, those classes are class A (MIGFX), class B (MIGBX), class C (MIGDX), class I (MGTIX), class 529A (EISTX), class 529B (EMIVX), class 529C (EMICX), class R1 (MIGMX), class R2 (MIRGX), class R3 (MIGHX) and class R4 (MIGKX). Class R5 shares may be offered in the future.
The fund will seek capital appreciation. Under normal conditions it will invest at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities, including common stocks, preferred stocks, securities convertible into stocks and depositary receipts for those securities.
The adviser will focus on large-capitalization companies with above-average earnings growth potential, but it may invest in companies of any size as well as in foreign securities.
The portfolio manager will be Jeffrey C. Constantino, who has served since 2006 as investment officer of Boston-based MFS, the fund's investment adviser.
Sales charges and management fees have not been completely determined yet. The filing stated that class A and class 529A may impose a maximum sales charge, but all other share classes will not. In addition, class A shares will incur a maximum deferred sales charge of 1% on shares purchased without an initial sales charge and redeemed within 24 months of purchase. Class B, class 529B, class C and class 529C may incur a deferred sales charge, but the other share classes will not.
