Marchex director owns 2.29 million shares

Charlotte, N.C., Dec. 18 - Marchex Inc. board member Nicolas J. Hanauer bought 2,191,500 shares of the company's class B common stock between Nov. 13, 2007 and Dec. 9 for a total of $23.17 million using personal funds.

The transactions were reported in a schedule 13D/A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Hanauer beneficially owns 2,290,700 shares, or 8.73%, of the Seattle online advertising company's class B stock.

It was previously reported that Hanauer joined the Marchex board in October 2007. He is the vice chairman of the board, the chair of the compensation committee and a member of the board's nominating and governance committee.
