S&P rates Maybank notes A-

Standard & Poor's said it assigned A- long-term and A-2 short-term issue ratings to senior unsecured notes under a $5 billion multicurrency medium-term note program of Malayan Banking Bhd. (A-/stable/A-2).

The agency said it also issued a BBB+ long-term issue rating to lower tier 2 subordinated notes under the program.

Proceeds will be used for working capital, general banking and other corporate purposes.
