Liberty Shipping could up offer for International Shipholding

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 15 - Liberty Shipping Group LLC subsidiary Projection LLC said it is prepared to "consider additional nonpublic information that may support a higher valuation" of its $25.75-per-share offer for International Shipholding Corp.

International Shipholding formed a special committee in response to Projection's offer, a Liberty news release said.

Liberty said previously it prefers to work with International Shipholding to negotiate an agreement but would consider taking its offer directly to the company's shareholders or seeking representation on its board of directors.

Based in Mobile, Ala., International Shipholding is a provider of international and domestic maritime transportation services.

Liberty is a Lake Success, N.Y.-based owner and operator of dry bulk vessels.
