Liberty Global to begin self-tender for series A, series C common stock

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 3 - Liberty Global, Inc.'s board of directors authorized a Dutch auction cash self-tender offer to purchase up to 5.682 million shares of the company's series A common stock priced between $40.00 and $44.00 per share and up to 5.682 million shares of its series C common stock, also priced between $40.00 and $44.00 each.

Total cost to purchase the maximum number of shares in each series is expected to be $454.6 million to $500 million.

On Aug. 2, the series A shares closed at $42.11 (Nasdaq: LBTYA) and the series C shares closed at $39.89 (Nasdaq: LBTYB). Both 20-day tender offers are slated to begin on or about Aug. 10, a company news release stated.

Liberty Global is a cable operator based in Englewood, Calif.
