BNY Mellon is number one high-yield trustee for year to date

New York, June 5 - Bank of New York Mellon Trust Co., NA was the top trustee for high-yield bonds for the first five months of the year, according to data compiled by Prospect News.

Bank of New York placed number one for the junk bond market as a whole, taking a 17.9% share. It was trustee for $25.8 billion of new bonds in 50 transactions.

For U.S. issuers Wells Fargo took first place, pushing Bank of New York into second. Bank of New York had led this table every month so far this year. The margin between the two firms is slim, just $270 million or 0.24% of the market.

Wells Fargo placed second for all issuers. U.S. Bancorp was third in both tables, followed by Wilmington Trust Co.

The tables cover high-yield bond deals offered in the United States via a registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission or under Rule 144A. The name of the trustee was not available for all deals, particularly those from emerging markets issuers.

• The tables include all underwritten dollar-denominated offerings sold in the United States as public or Rule 144A deals reported to Prospect News.

• Convertibles, trust preferreds, capital securities and preferred stock are excluded.

• Deals rated investment grade by either Standard & Poor's or Moody's Investors Service are excluded, but deals not rated by both are included.

• Offerings are included in the time period in which they price.

• Amounts are based on the total sales price (face amount multiplied by the offering price).

• Units made up of a bond and a warrant are included; other units are excluded.

• Sovereign issues are excluded.

• Each tranche is counted as a separate deal.

• Passthroughs, collateral trust and equipment trust certificates are included.

• Best efforts and non-underwritten deals are excluded as are remarketings.
