S&P rates Korea Housing AA/A-1+

S&P said it assigned its AA long-term and A-1+ short-term issuer credit ratings to Korea Housing Finance Corp. (KHFC).

The outlook on the long-term rating is stable.

“The ratings on KHFC reflect the agency's critical public policy role of providing long-term housing finance, mainly by issuing RMBS with long-term maturities, and its integral link with the government,” S&P said in a news release.

“We see an almost certain likelihood that the Korean government will provide timely and sufficient extraordinary support to KHFC in the event of financial distress. We therefore equalize the ratings on KHFC with those on Korea.”
