Autonomy acquires Interwoven for $16.20 per share

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., March 17 - Autonomy Corp. completed its acquisition of Interwoven, Inc., it was announced on Tuesday.

"With the addition of Interwoven to the Autonomy group, the intelligence of Autonomy's IDOL technology can be used to extend Interwoven's web content capabilities across 100,000 corporate web sites, intranets and extranets already powered by Interwoven," Autonomy chief executive officer Michael Lynch said in a company news release.

"As the only vendor capable of automating operations across all forms of unstructured information, Autonomy remains uniquely positioned in the market," Lynch said.

Anthony Bettencourt, formerly CEO of Verity, Inc. which was acquired by Autonomy, will be the divisional CEO of Autonomy Interwoven.

Joe Cowan, former CEO of Interwoven, Inc., has joined Autonomy group management reporting directly to Lynch, according to the release.

Autonomy, a Cambridge, England-based infrastructure software company, agreed in January to acquire Interwoven for $16.20 in cash per share in a transaction valued at about $775 million.

Interwoven is a content management solutions provider based in San Jose, Calif.
