Grupo Aeromexico asks for another 120-day exclusivity extension

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Feb. 4 – Grupo Aeromexico, SAB de CV is seeking a second 120-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Specifically, the company asked the court to extend the plan filing period through June 25 from Feb. 25 and the solicitation period through Aug. 24 from April 26.

The company said that while it has accomplished a great deal so far in its Chapter 11 cases, there is plenty more to accomplish, both in order to position the debtors to emerge with a sustainable balance and in order to achieve the various thresholds needed to file the Chapter 11 plan.

“The months ahead will be focused on many time-consuming tasks, including rationalizing the debtors’ aircraft fleet and workforce, claims analysis, and formulating the debtors’ Chapter 11 plan,” the company said.

A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17.

Grupo Aeromexico, a holding company for commercial aviation, is based in Mexico City. The company filed Chapter 11 on June 30, 2020 under case number 20-11563.
