NRG Energy to buy back $251 million of 2.75% convertibles due 2048

Los Angeles, April 3 – NRG Energy, Inc. announced it entered into separate, privately negotiated transactions with some holders of its existing 2.75% convertible senior notes due 2048 to repurchase about $251 million aggregate principal amount of the notes.

The repurchases are expected to close over a period ending on or about April 18, according to a press release.

Following the closing of the buybacks, and after giving effect to about $92 million aggregate principal amount of notes that the company had previously repurchased, roughly $232 million of notes will remain outstanding.

NRG is a Princeton, N.J.-based wholesale power generation company.
