Global Hunter adds Blatt and Gourlay to high-yield sales operation

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Feb. 22 - Global Hunter Securities, LLC has added Jonathan Blatt and Matthew Gourlay to its high-yield bond sales and trading operation in New York, according to a press release. They join Rich Goldenberg, head of global debt capital markets, and Ravi Kamath, head of high-yield research.

Blatt joins Global Hunter from Stone Tower Capital, a $30 billion asset manager, where his combined annual bond and loan trading volume exceeded $7 billion. He has been trading fixed-income securities since 1984, when he started with Bear Stearns. He was a founding member of Chase Bank's high-yield desk and Fieldstone's sales, trading and research business. He also opened the New York office of BB&T Capital, doubling its high-yield business.

A former attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Blatt holds a bachelor's degree from Washington University and a Juris Doctorate from American University.

Gourlay started on Wall Street in 1980, spending his entire career focused on debt-oriented transactions. He has been a managing director for Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette, CRT Capital, LLC and UBS Warburg. At UBS Warburg, he also headed the leveraged finance group for three years. In addition, he was a founding member of high-yield operations for both Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley.

Gourlay holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Princeton University.

Global Hunter Securities, a New Orleans-based investment firm, focuses on the energy, health care, China and metals and mining sectors.
