Georgia Pacific calls 9 7/8% debentures

New York, Jan. 28 - Georgia-Pacific Corp. (Ba3/BB+) said it will call for redemption its $243 million of outstanding 9 7/8% debentures due 2021.

The company originally issued $250 million of the debentures in November 1991.

Georgia Pacific, an Atlanta-based forest products company, said the notes will be redeemed on March 1 using funds available under its revolving credit facility.

The company expects to record a first-quarter 2004 pretax charge of about $11 million for call premiums and to write off deferred debt issuance costs.
