Fitch: Southern, Georgia Power outlooks up to stable

Fitch Ratings said it revised the outlooks of Southern Co. (issuer default rating of A) and its subsidiary, Georgia Power Co. (issuer default rating of A), to stable from negative.

In addition, the ratings of both issuers are affirmed.

The revision of the outlook to stable for Georgia Power reflects the improvement in cash flow and credit metrics expected to result from a constructive rate settlement approved on Dec. 21 by the Georgia Public Service Commission, the agency noted.

The three-year settlement created an alternate rate plan that will become effective on Jan. 1, Fitch added.
