Fitch gives Georgia Power notes A+

Fitch Ratings said it assigns a rating of A+ to the Georgia Power Co. series 2007F 6.05% senior monthly notes due Dec. 1, 2038.

The agency said that the notes are unsecured and rank equally with existing and future unsecured indebtedness of Georgia Power.

The proceeds of the notes are expected to be used to repay a portion of outstanding short-term debt, which totaled $458 million as of Nov. 28, and for other general corporate purposes, including the continuous construction program, Fitch noted.

The outlook is stable.
