By Tali Rackner

Norfolk, Va., Sept. 2 – George K. Baum & Co. announced that Julie Villarreal has joined the firm as a senior vice president focusing on Texas underwritings in the Dallas office, according to a press release.

"We're excited to add such a highly qualified professional to our Texas Municipal Finance Group. Julie's knowledge of Texas issuers and experience in underwriting Texas bonds will be a perfect fit and a tremendous asset to the firm," Ed Steinauer, co-manager of municipal finance, said in the release.

Prior to joining George K. Baum, Villarreal was a senior vice president at Southwest Securities where she served as the head of municipal syndicate. Her 30-year tenure with the regional firm focused on the pricing of negotiated and competitive bond issues, including tax-exempt, taxable and bank qualified, the firm said.

George K. Baum is a Kansas City, Mo.-based investment bank.
