George K. Baum announces opening of office in D.C. run by Talvadkar
By Tali David
Minneapolis, May 6 - George K. Baum & Co. announced the opening of a new office in Washington, D.C.
First vice president Dev Talvadkar will oversee the location, according to a news release.
Since joining George K. Baum in 2005, Talvadkar has been involved in the transaction execution and quantitative structuring of both tax-exempt and taxable debt financings for colleges and universities, independent schools and other non-profit entities.
This opening is part of the company's goal to strengthen its presence on the East Coast. In November, George K. Baum opened a Charlotte, N.C., office run by senior vice president David Adams.
A second office began operating in Pittsburgh. The company hired Jason Appelt as a senior vice president in its education and nonprofit finance group.
The company is poised to widen its exposure on the West Coast as well, with a third location opening in San Clemente, Calif. Senior vice president Randy Merritt will operate out of this location and will continue George K. Baum's focus on financing for school districts and community colleges in California.
In addition, the company announced the addition of vice president Robert Poswalk in Dallas and new analysts to its municipal headquarters office in Denver.
George K. Baum is a Kansas City, Mo.-based investment bank.
