JMP updates laser vision correction market

JMP Securities analyst Anthony Ostrea updated the U.S. laser vision correction (LVC) market, as concerns over the economy takes a toll on JMP's coverage universe.

In JMP's survey of 23 LVC practices in the United States, 35% indicated improving trends (on a year-over-year basis) between the first-quarter 2006 and second-quarter 2006, while 13% indicated worsening trends. The remaining 53% indicated no change for the period. Half saw flat to up procedures and half viewed procedures as down.

The U.S. LVC market is estimated to have been weak over the last three quarters.
