Montgomery & Co. introduces equity capital markets group; focus includes biotech

New York, July 19 - Montgomery & Co., LLC said it launched a 10-member Equity Capital Markets group, which focuses on small and mid-size companies in the technology, software and biomedical sectors.

"We are thrilled to offer our clients research, sales and trading, in addition to the merger and acquisition and private placement advisory services that Montgomery & Co. has been known for since 1986," chief executive officer James Montgomery said in a news release.

"Besides supplying our clients with high-quality research, the ECM team allows us to expand our services to include initial public offerings, registered follow-on offerings, PIPEs, non-deal road shows and related services."

The firm is initiating research in medical devices, biotechnology and specialty pharmaceuticals, wireless technology, semiconductors and digital media technology as well as software.

"Biomedical, technology and new media represent areas in which we have tremendous investment banking experience and expertise," added Montgomery in the release.

Among the analysts are Shiv Kapoor, vice president and biotech analyst, who will also cover specialty pharmaceuticals companies, and Wade King, senior analyst and managing director of healthcare research.

Kapoor wrote a key portion of the new drug application for Concerta, an ADHD drug, and King was the head of healthcare research at Wells Fargo Securities for three years.

Based in Santa Monica, Calif., the company provides research, sales and trading coverage and strategic advisory services for information technology, communications, healthcare and media and entertainment companies.
