S&P and Rating Agency Malaysia join forces

By Reshmi Basu

New York. Feb. 16 - Standard & Poor's said it has signed an affiliation agreement with Rating Agency Malaysia Bhd. (RAM) under which the two firms will bring together their analytical and business development activities for the country.

The partnership will raise the visibility of credit ratings among Malaysian companies and investors as well as help Malaysia-based companies access capital in the international markets, said Datuk C. Rajandram, executive deputy chairman for Rating Agency Malaysia, in a news release.

Standard & Poor's said the relationship would be mutually beneficial for both firms. S&P will share its global rating expertise and analytical criteria while RAM will provide its knowledge of domestic financial markets.
