S&P lifts Duke Energy stand-alone rating

Standard & Poor’s said it affirmed an A- issuer credit rating on Duke Energy Ohio Inc.

The outlook remains stable.

The agency also said it revised the company’s stand-alone credit profile to A- from BBB.

The company’s business risk profile is considered excellent based on its electric and gas transmission and distribution operations, S&P said.

The company no longer engages in merchant generation operations, the agency said.

The regulated utility operations are under a generally constructive regulatory framework with the most recent rate case decisions, providing for a reasonable opportunity to the company to earn its authorized rate of return, S&P said.
