Fitch alters Kemper outlook to negative

Fitch Ratings said it changed the outlook to negative from stable, but affirmed Kemper Corp.’s ratings, including the issuer default rating at BBB+ and senior debt ratings at BBB.

The outlook revision to negative primarily reflects sharp deterioration in 2021 underwriting results, compared to rating sensitivities, and operating environment challenges to returning to near term underwriting profitability in 2022, the agency said.
