Deb Stores requests 120-day exclusivity extension to maximize value

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Nov. 30 – Deb Stores Holding LLC requested an extension of its exclusive periods for filing a plan of reorganization and soliciting votes on that plan, according to a motion filed Nov. 25 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company wants to extend its exclusive filing period through March 30 from Dec. 1 and the solicitation period through May 25 from Jan. 26.

“The debtors merely require additional time in order to maximize the value of their estates,” Deb Stores said in the motion.

A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 12.

Deb Stores is the parent company of Deb Shops, a Philadelphia-based retailer that specializes in junior and plus-sized merchandise for women aged 13 to 25. Deb Stores filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 4, 2014. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-12676.
