BioTime files $75 million shelf covering stock, debt and preferreds

Knoxville, Tenn., Aug. 27 - BioTime, Inc. filed a $75 million shelf registration in an S-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common shares, preferred shares, debt securities, warrants, rights and units.

The securities may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

BioTime is an Emeryville, Calif., biotechnology company that develops blood plasma volume expanders, blood replacement solutions for hypothermic surgery, organ preservation solutions and technology for use in surgery, emergency trauma treatment and other applications.
